Friendship

I have been in a situation lately where I have been trying to explain family relations to my three year old. E has decided that his cousin, Mason is his best friend. I have been questioning him about why Mason is his best friend. They share a mutual love of the Tobey Maguire Spiderman but that is about it. Other than that Mason thinks Elijah is too little, doesn't understand E's imagination and is often just mean to Elijah. Oh well. E keeps asking me who my best friend is. I explained that I had more than one, Nicole, Elle and Solomon. E's comeback is what about Aunt Pamela, as my sister had been living with us until recently. I tried to explain that she is my friend, but not a best friend and is also a sister. As E is an only child this sister thing becomes a bit complicated :) The last conversation we had took place while E was using the toilet. When I explained that Pamela was my sister he said he wanted a sister. I told him that in order for him to have a sister I would have to have another baby, a baby girl. "Do you want Momma to have another baby girl so you can have a sister?" "NO!"

That's cute! Relationships are sometimes difficult to explain to kids. So, no sisters for Elijah, hmm? LOL
